Ph.D. Colloquia Series in ICMLC 2007

ICMLC 2008 warmly invites doctoral students to apply for participation in the second ICMLC Ph.D. Colloquia Series (CS). After its successful premiere at ICMLC2007, the CS again aims to provide doctoral students with an opportunity to discuss their research results with senior researchers in the field, other students and researchers.

Aim
The aim of the CS is to nurture the research culture as well as stimulate discussions and enhance presentation skills of doctoral students: Students can benefit from the participation in the CS in several ways:
To present their current research in front of an audience of international experts , engage in discussion and receive a valuable feedback
To explore the possibilities of extending their conference papers to full fledged journal papers
To share their research results with the audience, especially those involved in the same or related area

Presentations in Ph.D. Colloquia Series
The Ph.D. students of selected Ph.D. CS papers will present their papers and thesis work in special sessions at the conference. We anticipate a 25-mins time allotted for each presenter which includes a 15 minute presentation and a 10 minute time slot for intensive Questions & Answer sessions and discussion. Each special session will include at least 3 international experts in the audience to provide the Ph.D. students with valuable feedback and engage them in discussions about their research work.

Eligibility
In order to join the CS, each applicant must satisfy the following criteria:
The applicant must be in his/her last two years of the PhD program
The applicant must be the first or second author of a paper accepted for presentation at ICMLC2008, and the paper must be related to the main research work of his/her thesis

Although this is not a formal requireement, we strongly encourage the students participating in the CS to join the IEEE SMC as student members.
